Our company develops desktop and web applications that provide solutions to problems and tasks in various areas of the construction industry. Our work so far has touched (among others) the areas of BIM, building physics, building energy and monument protection.

Dynamic online thermal bridge atlas

As building energy considerations become increasingly important in the design process, it is in the interest of engineering firms, building material manufacturers and system providers to provide supporting information to employees and designers as easily and comprehensively as possible. However, most documentation only contain the most basic technical information, much less than would be needed for the easy and thermally optimized design of space-delimiting structures.

The era of paper-based design manuals is largely over, but the continuous maintenance and updating of digital documents available on company websites sometimes proves to be too hard of a task. The potential solution: dynamically generated, easy to maintain and update web applications to disseminate building physics product and system data.

Using our online building physics and building energy simulation platform (BPP, or Building Physics Platform), we offer a modern solution aimed primarily for building material manufacturers, system administrators, trade organizations and larger engineering firms: a dynamic online catalog of building physics calculations.

This is not jet another "simple" energy- or thermal bridge simulation program, of which there are already many on the market, but a completely web / cloud-based solution that offers much more than running individual / case-by-case calculations. When entering a model, the flexible parameterization system allows you to set up the calculation of a potentially unlimited subvariants at the same time. After entering the structural model and setting the necessary calculation types, the system is able to deliver on-demand calculations for end users with just a few clicks via a simple public interface. Instead of one specific case, the results of millions of parameter combinations or variants can be made available, and the end user (e.g. architect or mechanical designer) can customize to match a specific design in a matter of moments.

Editor interface

Web based editor for defining and maintaining the catalogue of construction details

Main features:

  • The owner of the catalogue has access to an online editor to expand, parametrize or modify the collection of constructional details.
  • With the help of the parameter system it is possible to parametrize optional layers or elements, element size, element or layer thermal conductivity or to define a selection of specific building products (with their characteristic dimensions and thermal conductivities).
  • Constructions are defined with geometry generation scripts that build-up the output in steps mimicking the real-lif build order. Each new object is placed in relation to what is already 'constructed' with the help of spatial queries. This ensures correct geometry for all possible parameter combinations.
  • Real-time update of the construction drawing based on the parameter values selected
  • Built-in material database
  • All simulation services are implemented on the server side in the background.
  • Published constructions can be viewed, individualized with the help of the parameters and calculated with just a few simple clicks in the freely available end user interface
  • The public online interface for end users is can also be embedded into other websites
  • PDF export, other export formats on demand
  • Temperature field / isotherms / heat flux density field visualization on demand
  • API endpoint for other services

Viewer interface

Web based viewer to browse the catalogue of published construction details, fine tune parameter values and get calculated values

Calculation types already fully implemented

  • Linear thermal transmittance calculation of 2D constructional details according to the EN ISO 10211 standard with optional DIN 4108 Beiblatt 2 support

Calculation types already tested but not jet fully integrated:

  • Thermal transmittance of window frames
  • The calculation of minimum internal temperature factor of 2D constructional details
  • The calculation of thermal transmittance according to the EN ISO 6946 standard, with the iterative calculation of thermal conductivity fields based on temperature and moisture content variation within the structure and the all the necessary algorithms and corrections for inhomogeneity, airgaps, mechanical fasteners etc.
  • Vapor diffusion calculation of simple layered constructions according to the EN ISO 13788 standard
  • Dynamic HAM (Heat and Mass transport) simulation
  • Other simulations could be possible on demand
